BOWMANVILLE, Ont. -- Tim Robinson claimed his second straight win in the Bazzaz Amateur Superbike class on the Robinson Racing / Gym-Max BMW S1000RR at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on Saturday.

The Gatineau, Que. rider finished a massive 16.055 secs. clear of the racingphil.com / Pete’s Superbike Kawasaki ZX-6R of Philippe Masse while points leader Trevor Daley of Mississauga, Ont. was third on the OneSpeed / Riders Choice / ProStar Motorsports Honda CBR600RR.

Daley, who had to borrow the Honda after his Suzuki GSX-R1000 suffered engine problems in testing on Thursday, leads Masse by 42 points heading into Sunday’s last race.

Robinson had qualified on pole by over two seconds and carried that dominance into Saturday’s red-flag shortened eight-lap race. He was over 10 seconds clear of the field by half distance and his fastest lap of the race, a 1:24.552 was over two seconds better than the next best effort.

“I knew I had a good pace heading into the race,” said Robinson, who also scored an Amateur Superbike win at CTMP last year. “I just tried to relax and treat it like a track day. We had a lot of trouble getting a set-up this weekend but it came good today.”

Robinson was presented with a prize pack from series title sponsor Mopar and also took home the $1000 DUA Motorsports contingency payback.

Steve Hoffarth held second spot most of the way, just ahead of Masse and Daley, but the Orangeville, Ont. racer crashed his Inside Motorcycles BMW S1000RR in turn three on lap seven.

Masse crossed the line less than a second ahead of Daley to ensure the title fight went into Sunday’s season finale.

Will Hornblower of Sarnia, Ont. finished fourth on his Hornblower Racing / Blue Streak / ProPulsion Yamaha YZF-R6 and Nuno Almeida took fifth in his debut with the Noodles Racing / GP Bikes / Eurocorsa Honda CBR929RR.

The race was shortened after Martin Gosselin of Plessisville, Que. crashed his Honda CBR600RR in turn two on the second lap of the original race. He was not seriously hurt in the incident.
