Shaw-O'Leary crashed the GoLo Racing/Dua Motorsports/Pro Cycle-sponsored Honda CBR600RR during his Sunday morning warm-up session and caused extensive damage to the motorcycle. Austin bruised his knee and scuffed his shoulder but was otherwise unhurt. However, his back-up bike, a Yamaha, was for Superbike only, leaving the East coast native with no bike for the Inside Motorcycles Sportbike National Championship final.
It was then that ARL Pro Sportbike/Superbike champ Ron Munroe stepped forward and loaned his spare Kawasaki, a motorcycle that Shaw-O'Leary had never ridden. After some slight changes to the controls to suit him, Austin was back on track and ready to race, and race he did. Right from the starting lights he sprinted into the race lead and extended his advantage to six and one half seconds at race end.
In the Bazzaz Superbike final Shaw-O'Leary elected once more to ride the now more familiar and proven Kawasaki and once more sprinted into the lead and ran away from the field, this time with a cushion of a comparable 6.7 seconds. For his win Shaw-O'Leary recieved the one thousand dollar Dua Motorsports award. As Shaw-O'Leary is a Dua Motorsports sponsored rider, second place finisher Trevor Daley, also recieved a $1000.00 contingency cheque from Dua Motorsports.
Previous to his amazing performances in the races, Austin Shaw-O Leary, also broke the Am Sportbike qualifying lap record twice eventually lowering it from 1:09.406 (set by Cody Matechuk 2009) to 1:09.292 and in Amateur Superbike he brought the numbers down from 1:10.211 set by Amzy Nawaz 2009 to a blistering 1:09.878.
