The historic season opener marks the first CMDRA national event in Eastern Canada, and anticipation is high as racers and fans prepare to converge on Napierville's NHRA-sanctioned dragstrip for two days of motorcycle madness. Headlining the event will be the ground-shaking, nitro-burning Screamin' Eagle Top Fuel division, featuring some of North America's fastest Nitro Harleys going head-to-head at speeds over 220 mph. Anyone who's seen it up close will tell you: There's nothing quite like seeing (and feeling) a Top Fuel Harley blast down the quarter-mile!
A total of 13 classes will be on hand at the Rendez-Vous Nationals, including Super Bike and Street, the two biggest classes in the CMDRA. Super Bike will attract top local bracket racing favourites, while Street is open to anyone with a street bike and a desire to race. First-time racers with the CMDRA - in any class - can enter competition FOR FREE with purchase of a two-day event spectator pass ($40) and a set of official CMDRA number plates ($20). A drag racing school (mandatory for new racers) will be held on Saturday before qualifying.
The popular V-Rod Destroyer class will return to Napierville with typical neck-and-neck competition between production Harley dragbikes. Will the Quebec teams have what it takes to fend off Ontario's best? Who will come to play from Western Canada? If sportbikes are more your thing, the wild and unpredictable Pro Street and Super Street bikes will turn your crank. High performance, no bull, heads-up, first to the finish line wins.
Gates open at 8:00 AM on Saturday morning, May 26, with time trials at 9:30 and first round qualifying starting at 12:30 PM. Sunday's opening ceremonies are at 12:30 with the first round of eliminations immediately to follow.
The Rendez-Vous Nationals at Napierville Dragway marks the first of seven races on the CMDRA schedule. The next stop is June 1-2 (Friday/Saturday) at Toronto Motorsports Park.
