Jodi enjoyed getting back onto the "Long" configuration of the Shannonville circuit, as It had been several years since he had last ridden the full track. With the team testing some drastic setup changes, Friday and Saturday were spent making small adjustments to fine-tune the Honda machinery. On Saturday, Jodi qualified in first place in both classes; in Pro 600 with a margin or 1.752 seconds to second place, and in Pro Superbike with a 2.367 margin to second place.
On Sunday, Mother Nature turned up the heat! With temperatures soaring up to 40 degrees Celsius with the humidity, staying cool and hydrated was critical for the finals in the afternoon. In the Pro 600 race Jodi got a great launch and led the field on the opening lap, stretching out a big lead in the first few laps. With a gap of roughly seven seconds, Jodi slowed his pace and brought home the win with a 4.116-second lead.
With the Superbike grid set, Jodi was confident he could get the job done, although the late arrival of Frank Trombino had thrown a new variable into the race.
With another excellent start Jodi put his head down and rode hard for the opening laps. With a mistake on Lap 5 entering Corner 4, however, Jodi was overtaken by Trombino in the double-apex corner. Jodi could see Frank was struggling to do the pace and knew he had to quickly make the pass in order to keep his rhythm going. Jodi pulled out of the draft on the back straight at over 240kph and made the pass for first. Once there was clear track he continued to ride at his comfortable race pace and won by just under a second!
Jodi Christie: "I was very happy with our pace in Pro 600 and the plan was to break away. Once I had done so I slowed my pace to conserve for the Superbike race. I am very happy with how the Superbike race played out, I wanted to lead and continue riding my best until the end. It was a hot race this afternoon but my Dunlop tires did their job and gave me great grip throughout the race. With a sweep of the weekend here at Shannonville, I feel it give us an edge leading into Round 2 of the Canadian Superbike Championship kicking off on Friday at Autodrome St-Eustache."
