Fabrizio tops first WSBK Qualfying session of 2013

Phillip Island (Australia), Friday 22 February 2013 A close battled Qualifying 1 put an end to the first World Superbike day of 2013. The session was held under the clear skies of Phillip Island, with perfect temperatures and average winds blowing inland. Michel Fabrizio (Red Devils Roma Aprilia), after being the fastest rider of Free Practice 1, topped once again the timesheets thanks to a 1’31.317 lap-time, ahead of works Aprilia rider Eugene Laverty.

Aprilia Protest BMW at Silverstone

Following race two of round ten of the eni Superbike World Championship at Silverstone, U.K., the works Aprilia squad has protested the behavior of the BMW Motorrad team of Marco Melandri. Aprilia contend that the BMW crew were working on their S1000 RR race bike following the display of the three-minute board on the grid for race two, against the official FIM rules.

Guintoli Wins in his debut with PATA Ducati

Sylvain Guintoli made a great debut for his new PATA Racing Ducati team, winning race two in treacherous conditions at round ten of the 2012 eni Superbike World Championship at Silverstone, U.K. on August 5. Guintoli won race one in similar conditions at round three at Assen in the Netherlands, and the calm-riding Frenchman with the English accent showed superb discipline and control at Silverstone.

Kawasaki Rookie Wins Semi-Wet Wild One

First-year Superbike rider Loris Baz of France ran a great last lap to take first for Kawasaki in the opening race of the eni Superbike World Championship at Silverstone in the U.K. on August 5. In a race with ever-changing track conditions, including drizzle but no really hard rain, Baz stuck with the leaders throughout and then out-fumbled his opposition on the last of 18 laps.

Sykes Quickest in Silverstone SBK Warm-Up

Under threatening skies but on a rare dry surface at Silverstone, Kawasaki’s top gun Tom Sykes set the best lap time for today’s tenth round of the eni Superbike World Championship Series. After two mostly rainy days, the teams were glad to briefly run in the dry, although this afternoon’s weather predictions are completely negative–- unless you are a Duck, or on a “Duc.”

Smrz Grabs Pole for Effenbert-Liberty Ducati

Jakub Smrz of Czechoslovakia won pole position by .04 of a second for the tenth round of the eni Superbike World Championship slated for tomorrow at the famed Silverstone circuit in the United Kingdom. Riding for the Liberty Racing Team Effenbert Ducati squad, Smrz was a front runner through the two wet SuperPole sessions, run in ever-changing conditions due to drizzle, rain and brief glimpses of the sun.

Sykes Leads Superbikes to SuperPole

Under threatening skies, hometown ace Tom Sykes was the quickest in dry qualifying this morning at round ten of the eni Superbike World Championship at Silverstone in the United Kingdom.  Aboard the works Kawasaki ZX-10R Ninja, title contender Sykes set a best time of 2:05.35, almost half a second quicker than his closest competitor around the long, 5.9-km Silverstone layout.

Canadian Superbike Champ In Coventry for Olympic Soccer

Brett McCormick celebrated his first day back in eni Superbike World Championship action at Silverstone, United Kingdom, by taking a rare night out during a race weekend. Along with family and friends, McCormick took the train northwest to Coventry to watch the quarter-final match in Women’s Olympic Football, with the favoured home squad facing the strong Canadian National soccer team.
