Inside Impression: BMW C600 Sport

BMW has now officially entered the scooter market with its two new maxi-scooters. Both the C600 Sport and C650 GT are built on the same platform, with the GT aimed at touring and our test unit, the C600 Sport, targeted for the sportier enthusiast.

BMW is arguably late in the scooter race, but forgive them — they’ve been busy innovating elsewhere with great success.

Track Time with John Sharrard - 2012 BMW S1000RR

This summer, our editor asked me if I'd be willing to put the 2012 BMW S1000RR through its paces on the race track.  I argued for awhile, then reluctantly agreed… Yeah right!

Shortly after, I was at Calabogie Motorsports Park with the sleek BMW for a Pro 6 Cycle-hosted  track day.  Pro 6 always provides a safe and well-run track day, at what just may be the nicest race track in the country.  Calabogie offers superb tire grip and smooth, consistent pavement, allowing traction no matter which line you select.

Couturier Racing Appeals Fuel DQ at CTMP

Mopar Pro Superbike team Couturier Racing is contesting the disqualification of team rider Kevin Lacombe in Sunday's Pro Superbike race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park for the use of illegal fuel.

For 2012, the Canadian Superbike Championship mandated the use of unleaded fuel, and competitors have had the choice of using their own unleaded pump fuel or Sunoco 260 GT Plus, which was available from Brooklin Cycle at each event. But at Sunday morning's rider's meeting at CTMP, teams in the Pro Superbike class were informed that they would be supplied with 20 litres of the Sunoco fuel by the series, which they must use in competition for that day's final round of the series. The decision to make the fuel mandatory for Sunday’s race was due to recent concerns that some teams were possibly using unsanctioned race fuel.

Canada's Best Set For CSBK Finale at CTMP

(BOWMANVILLE, ON – August 17, 2012)  The championship titles will be up for grabs as racing at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park’s final major event shifts to the two-wheel variety when Canada's top motorcycle riders compete in the Superbike Doubleheader Weekend, August 24-26.

Headlining the weekend is the Mopar Pro Superbike class, where seven-time champion Jordan Szoke will look to claim an unprecedented eighth national title.

The Brantford native, who is riding a BMW Motorrad S1000RR this season, has now won three consecutive races and holds a commanding 66-point lead in the Championship standings heading into the season-ending doubleheader at his home track. A race win is worth 50 points and there will be two full points races this weekend.
