The Jodi Christie Racing Team clinched the national Pro Sport Bike Championship at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

The team used Thursday’s track day to get reacquainted with the beautiful circuit and get comfortable on both the Honda CBR600RR and CBR1000RR. Jodi worked hard with John Sharrard from Accelerated Technologies to get the bikes where they needed to be for qualifying the next day.

With this being a doubleheader, qualifying took place on Friday afternoon. The JCR team continued to dial the bikes in during the morning sessions to be prepared to turn some fast laps in the afternoon.

First off was Pro Sport Bike but on his first flying lap Jodi pushed the front end under initial braking into corner three and rode off track at a high speed and was forced to put it down rather than go straight into the wall.

Jodi picked the bike up and brought it in to the pits where his team did a flawless job of quickly fixing some minor damage. He then set out and completed only four laps, posting a time of 1:25.434. Due to time lost repairing damage, Jodi was inched off of pole by .160 at the checkered flag. This was the first event of the season that Jodi did not qualify on pole.

Up next for the team was Mopar Pro Superbike qualifying. Jodi went out in the first 20 minutes to fine tune the Elka shock and lock into the top 10 for the shootout. Jodi went out and turned seven hot laps and qualified sixth on the grid. The team was delighted with their efforts in qualifying aboard their Accelerated Technologies-tuned motorcycles.

Saturday morning the team focused on a strategy for the Sport bike race in order to clinch the title, also improving their times on the CBR1000 to reach Jodi’s goal prior to the race. Lining up for the first Sport Bike race of the weekend Jodi had a cool head. He got off to a good start and slipped into second behind Raphael Archambault. The Keene, Ont. rider sat and stalked Raphael throughout the race and kept the pressure on every lap. The riders diced back and forth safely thanks to the confidence that Jodi had while using a Dion Device brake guard.

On the second last lap Jodi drafted by on the back straight and put his head down, putting together a quick lap to win the race by .444 and clinch the title.

The next event for the JCR Accelerated team was the Pro Superbike final. Jodi got off to a solid start a found himself in fifth position crossing the line on the first lap. Unfortunately, with a deficit of 35 horsepower compared to the BMWs Jodi was passed each lap by another rider on the back straight. Jodi did his best to work past a few riders in the tighter sections of the circuit but could not hold the other riders off down the straight. He settled in and finished eighth.

With the Pro Sport Bike championship locked up the team was ready to demonstrate its capabilities in the Pro Sport Bike and Superbike races. Jodi only completed a few laps in the morning sessions to get comfortable and topped the Sport Bike leader board and was third in Superbike.

The Pro Sport Bike race was the first event of the afternoon. When the lights went out Jodi leaped to the front of the pack and put his head down and put in his fastest lap of the race on his first complete lap. He managed his race pace for the remaining laps and brought the final win of the season home with a staggering 9.477-second lead.

In the final Superbike event of the season Jodi was dicing for third position and was making great passes all over the track to stay with the lead group. On lap three he slipped underneath Sebastien Tremblay at the top of Moss Corner before the back straight. While executing this pass Jodi had to tighten up his line and clipped the inside curb with his engine case, resulting in a crash. Jodi walked away from the incident uninjured thanks to his Joe Rocket leathers and Shoei helmet.

That concludes the 2012 race season for the Jodi Christie Racing / Accelerated Technologies team. Jodi would like to thank all of sponsors for being so supportive of the team’s efforts in 2012 season. Jodi defended his Pro Sport Bike title with six out of seven pole positions, six out of seven race wins and finishing a close second in the one race he did not win.

Jodi’s Superbike efforts were strong as well with two podiums, one other top five finished and two top 10 finishes.

“We had an incredible year packed with memories that I will never forget,” Jodi said. “I want to thank all of my great sponsors for their support in winning this championship. I couldn’t have done it without them, truly a group effort from the supporters and my team.”
