MONT-TREMBLANT, Que. – Steve Crevier restored order in the Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada XR1200 Cup at Le Circuit Mont-Tremblant on Saturday.

After seeing Michael Taylor end his perfect run of pole positions at the previous round at Atlantic Motorsport Park, the Maple Ridge, B.C. veteran was back on top in qualifying for Sunday’s fourth round of the series.

Crevier toured the 4.26km Mont-Tremblant circuit in 1:49.857 on his MotoSport Plus / Dominion Lending entry to claim the Tactical Products Canada LUMINOX Pole Award for the third time this season.

Darren James of Deep Cove, B.C. was second quickest at 1:50.262 on the Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada / Ruthless Racing bike and Taylor was third fastest with a 1:50.803 for the Mackie Harley-Davidson team.

“We hadn’t been making a lot of mid range power but we fattened up the mid range this weekend and that’s made a big difference,” said Crevier, who has won all three races so far this season. “We got a basic set-up this morning and I don’t think we’ll change much for the race.”

Crevier now enjoys a commanding 45-point lead in his bid to repeat as XR1200 Cup champion. He has 171 points entering Sunday’s race to the 126 of Taylor and the 124 of James.

Calgary’s John Ross MacRae completes the front row for Sunday’s race on the second of the Ruthless Racing machines, having turned a lap at 1:53.639.

Fifth quickest qualifier was Elie Daccache of Newcastle, Ont. on the Harley-Davidson de l’Outaouais entry with a time of 1:53.894. He will be joined on the second row by seven-time dirt track champion Don Taylor on the Clare’s Cycle of Niagara XR1200 and the Maritime Harley-Davidson Dealers entry of Blaise Fougere.
