Eugene Laverty (Aprilia Racing Team) was the winner of Race 2 at Portimao. The Irishman, back on the podium after one round of absence, managed to score his 4th victory of the season. Of the seven wins achieved so far in his WSBK career, six of them came in the second race.

The Trombino Racing team has announced its plans to compete in the 2013 Mopar Canadian Pro Superbike Championship. Team racer Frank Trombino, a two-time national champion and multi-time RACE Superseries Pro champion, will pilot an Aprilia RSV4. This will represent the first time Aprilia has competed in CSBK competition.

Details are still limited, but Aprilia let the world see its brand new RSV4 Factory APRC ABS SBK model with an unconventional Facebook launch at 9 AM EST on Thursday morning. What we do know is that the SBK special edition model is in celebration of Aprilia's 2012 eni World Superbike Championship won by Max Biaggi, and that the model will only be sold in America.

2012 eni FIM Superbike World Champion Max Biaggi has announced his retirement from racing after six championships and a career that has spanned 23 years and took him from the ranks of 125 cc machinery to MotoGP and finally to World Superbike competition. Five of Biaggi's six titles came on Aprilia machinery.
