“There really is no better place to check out what’s new for 2013 than at the Calgary Motorcycle Show,” says Laurie Paetz, Show Manager, “the industry’s leading manufacturers are all represented with knowledgeable staff available to help you make an informed decision regarding the purchase of the bike you’ve always dreamed of.”
The 2013 Calgary Motorcycle Show kicks off in grand style on Friday, January 4th with SHE Rides Nite. This female friendly evening provides ladies with a discounted admission price after 5:00 pm, in addition to a number of ladies only features, demonstrations, educational experiences, and prizes. The evening is a celebration of women who ride, or those who are considering taking up the sport of motorcycling. The night concludes with an elimination style draw which will see one lucky lady take home a Suzuki S40 motorcycle valued at $6,500.00 from Walt Healy Motorsports and Suzuki Canada.
Introducing off road riding to a youngster can be difficult if you don’t have access to all the gear. The Yamaha Kids Riding Academy (YRA) takes all the guess work out of it. Kids between the ages of 6-12 years can sign up for a session which will provide them with expert riding and safety instruction and all the gear necessary to give it a try. Each session wraps up with the kids taking to the track to practice what they have learned. Sessions fill up quickly so if you have a “wannabe rider” in your group, be sure to make the YRA one of your first stops at the Show.
For those who seek a pure adrenalin rush, the “Evolution of Extreme” freestyle and stunt show is a must see. This year’s team consists of top North American Freestylers including; Keith Sayers, Ted Culbertson, Cody Elkins, Drake McElroy, and Rich Kearns. This group of high flying freestylers will wow crowds with their gravity defying ramp to ramp jumps, not only on motorcycles but an ATV as well. Adding to the show's excitement, “Team Empire” stunt team riders Nick “Apex” Brocha and Ernie “EDub” Vigil will showcase their own brand of “Street Freestyle”. The combination of action will have you on the edge of your seat. There are seven performances throughout the weekend so be sure to check on site for show times.
When you want to slow down the heart rate and wander around and take in the sheer beauty of some of the true classics, then make your way to the Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Club exhibit area. This year the focus is the history of Honda. The “Tribute to Honda” display will feature some rare and unique Honda models dating back to the 1960s.
If planning your next two-wheel adventure is high on your priority list, the destination travel, clubs and associations section of the Show is right up your alley. There is everything from destination travel locations and excursion that are specifically geared to motorcyclists, as well as charity rides, associations and clubs, all for those who just love to get on their bikes and ride.
Be sure to enter to win the $10,000.00 grand prize, a Triumph Bonneville motorcycle courtesy of Blackfoot Motosports and Triumph Motorcycles.
